Welcome to our gallery.......here you will find pictures of some of the events supported by the company - we hope they give you an idea of some of the PA systems we can provide........
Portishead Raft Race 2009 - www.portisheadraftrace.co.uk
To start our gallery, here are some side views of the system used at the Portishead Raft Race that took place on 12th July - It was good to be able to support this newly resurrected community event and we used 6 speakers producing over 2.4kw of clear sound, thrown in a wide dispersion pattern so it could be heard all around the lake. Front views would have been nice, but the damp conditions in front of the 'stage' precluded a shot!!
The pole mounted speakers are the JBL350 M-Series and the Studiosound combination of 18'' subs and 12'' full range units can also be seen. The weather looked threatening when we set up but happily the sun came out and the gazebo was a much needed sun shade! We are definitely looking forward to supporting the 2010 event!
Henbury Fun Day 2009
Held on 22nd August, this was our second year supporting the community fun day. It is a smaller venue than the Portishead event but has the added challenge of being situated on the top of a grassy mound with attractions either side - time to bring on the 'two fronted stage' approach!!!
WIth the Studiosound speaker units delivering over 1.25kw to each side of the 'stage' using a couple of bridged Prosound amps for the full range units and a Dimension 4 amp to feed the subs, the trick worked well and both sides of the event had high quality sound, albeit in mono to ensure all the audio detail from both left and right channels could be heard all around!
Minehead RNLI Raft Race 2009 - www.mineheadlifeboat.org.uk/raftrace.htm
Having provided the RNLI with DJ support and an ever increasingly complex (and powerful) sound system for the last 15 years, the event is clearly one of our favourites!! Held on 30th August this year, it was 12 hours of fun and music based on and around the Official RNLI event stage overlooking the picturesque quay in Minehead. The main stage PA (1220 watts rms into the subs and 1200 watts rms into the full range Studiosound speakers seen here on the right of the second picture) was supplemented by two satellite systems of around 1kw each feeding sound all around the natural amphitheatre made up of North Hill, the quay wall and the harbourside buildings. In all, over 4kw of sound ensured the large crowd enjoyed the DJ's, live band, and raft race commentary as well as the classical music synchronised with the firework finale!!
A great gig even though we do have a tin shed for a stage!!
First picture - Dumb and Dumber (aka Martyn and Dan from North Bristol PA Hire) stop work for a well earned beer!!
Second picture - Martyn posing with the band for a publicity shot - big cringe, but a nice shot of the compact (and powerful) PA!!
Our band for the day, called 'Against the Grain' ( www.myspace.com/againstthegrainuk ) played two sets for the event - one at lunchtime and one during the evening. A big thank you to John, Tim, Jordan and Brett for their time; they are seen here on the stage (yes it is made of scaffold and corrugated tin!) backlit by 4 powerful, DMX controlled, LED Par 64 cans from North Bristol PA Hire - add a whiff of smoke and suddenly its as good as any concert venue!!
And finally, everyone's favourite ending to a great, all day, outdoor event! The awesome fireworks provided by Alan and his team from Skyburst ( www.skyburst.co.uk ) are synchronised to music that can heard all around the event site - look closely on the first pic and you can see a wide dispersion, satellite speaker stack down on the end of the quay! This provided around 1kw of sound so that those people farther around Minehead Bay could hear the firework music - the applause said it all!
We are indebted to Dave Roberts of Alykat Images for all of the above Minehead pictures - an excellent photographer and charter skipper, he is contactable via email at alykatcharters@aol.com or via his website at www.alykatimages.com
Henbury Community 'Christmas Cracker' 2009
This was the second year we supported the chilly event! In the run up to Christmas, a local community group organise a festive event on Crow Lane that includes a local school choir singing carols, free mulled wine and mince pies and a visit from everyone's favourite white bearded man!!!....oh and festive music from North Bristol PA Hire of course.
First picture - A cold deserted street before the event started - The JBL350 is proudly perched on its stand waiting to entertain!
Second picture - Martyn waiting for the choir and others to arrive, having already selected a whole host of cheesy Christmas tunes to play to the shoppers and parents of the children's choir.
Of course, when this guy arrived nobody cared that it was wet and cold!! With a queue to see Santa approx 50 metres long, it gave Martyn plenty of time to get the adults singing along to the festive favourites,,,,thank goodness for Slade, Wizzard and all the others that made the event a fun time!
Minehead Lifeboat Naming Ceremony 2010
It was indeed an honour to be asked to provide an unobtrusive but clear PA system for this event. The brief was to allow the audience to clearly hear a variety of dignitaries, but without the PA system dominating the event. A two mic set up was employed to ensure a wide coverage at the lectern fed via a prosound amplifier into pole mounted 250Watt speakers. Everything came together including the weather to make this a great occasion.
In the first picture, before the event started, the small speaker can be seen alongside the historic boathouse. In the elevated position, the sound was easily heard at the back of the audience without being too loud for those seated at the front. The second picture shows a visiting RNLI dignatory receiving the new boat from the benefactor.
Minehead RNLI Raft Race 2010
As in previous years, we were pleased and eager to be associated with this event. Many thanks to our excellent band for the day 'Running on Empty' who did two great sets for us and donated their time free of charge....cheers guys.

Although the weather wasn't great, the crowds turned out for the day with many staying on to party into the evening.
Westbury on Trym Remembrance Day Service 2010
This event was a first for the company. We were asked to provide a discrete but clear PA system that would convey the service 360 degrees around the Cenotaph. Oh, and just to make it interesting, the roads weren't closed until around 30 mins before the 2 minute silence....not too much time for setting up and for such an important occasion! We delivered and got great feedback....from the Vicar, not the PA system that is!!!...check out the acknowledgment tab at the top of this page.
Westbury Community Fair 2011
This was the first time we had been asked to help with this event and it proved to be a day of differing demands! The brief was to relay the audio events going on inside the church to the people outside. (First picture shows the view from the top of the church tower). On the face of it an easy challenge, but the diversity of the sound sources was an interesting mix.

With a church choir, a string quartet, a ballet dance group and choral singers, this meant repositioning the microphones several times as well as mixing the sound 'on the fly'. However, those outside commented that they felt part of what was going on inside and the sound system certainly added to the success of the day.

Portishead Raft Race 2011
As this event has grown enormously since we got involved, this year we were asked to provide a 'link' type role to ensure that the event was covered from start to finish with pre-recorded music and various sponsorship and information announcements. This ensured there were no audio gaps between the raft race commentary and the band. As in previous years, it was a pleasure to work with the BBC's weather presenter Gemma Cooper.
Future Gallery Additions will be added as events unfold!
