The 2009 Portishead Raft Race - THANKS!!
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to write a quick note to say a big thank you to all of you for the support you gave at yesterday's raft race. You all made a huge contribution to the success of the event which we estimate attracted around 3 to 5 thousand spectators! Our preliminary sums are showing that we raised over £12,000 for the Portishead Lifeboat and the other charities that we are supporting. A fantastic result I'm sure you will all agree....... In particular we would like to thank:
Jemma Cooper - for fantastic commentating that kept everyone excited and involved
Martyn the DJ for his time and his PA
The Portishead Lifeboat team for all their help, donating the winners cups and manning their stand
The Army Cadet Force let by Rob Horn (Will - please pass on our thanks)
The Territorial Army - changing tents and muscle
Sarah, Claire and Karen for running the edible boat regatta and catering
The Royal Family - judging and being excellent VIPs
Wendy Watkins - "Carnival Wendy" - judging
John Whitehead for timing races and recording the results
Mark and Jeremy our official photographers
The Community Police Team for traffic management and general policing presence
